Meet our Board of Directors
Board MemberKurt is the COO and General Counsel of Loan Ecosystem LLC, which provides an efficient and economical platform for the loan syndication process. Kurt has extensive experience in corporate finance and previously was the COO, Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer for Vanderbilt Capital Advisors, LLC. Kurt was previously a partner at Lord, Bissell & Brook and Katten Muchin Rosenman law firms. Kurt comes to the OWP board with a passion for epilepsy patients, having served as the President and Chairman of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. He has a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD from Duke University School of Law.
Carol Coghlan Gavin
Board MemberCarol joins OWP’s board with over 30 years of experience on boards in both the private and non-profit sectors, with expertise in corporate governance. At Beatrice Company, she supervised the divesture of subsidiaries and assets, and moved to Tellabs, Inc. where she was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, directing all legal services and its subsidiaries globally. She now serves as President and Executive Director of the Tellabs Foundation. Carol has served on the Board of Visitors for the University of Illinois, where she received both her BA and JD.
Board MemberJim currently works as the CFO for Chicago-based Becker’s Healthcare. His finance experience ranges across industry, from small to Fortune 100 companies, both public and private, as well as private equity funded ventures. He has a BA from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Jim has been recognized for excellence in his financial leadership by both his employers and the FEI Chicago chapter, and has a passion for driving strategic financial and operational decisions that lead to profitable growth and better business outcomes.
Board ChairmanTroy is the 10th President of North Central College in Naperville, IL. Troy’s wide-ranging experience includes McKinsey and Company, and Plextronics, Inc., a Pittsburgh-based start-up that became a global leader in printed electronics. Prior to joining North Central, Troy was President of the Energy Services business at BlueStar Energy in Chicago. Troy holds a BS in Mathematics from Milligan College, a BS in Physics from Georgia Tech, and a PhD in Experimental Atomic Physics from MIT.
Board MemberScott has almost three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has led the sales and marketing efforts for numerous branded drugs for Abbott and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Scott has a passion for creating a pharmaceutical model that provides medications to all patients. His education includes a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from Morningside College.
Board MemberPaul has thirty years of experience in organizational leadership and administration, and an extensive background in international missions and philanthropy. In addition to being OWP’s chief operating officer, he serves as the principal operational liaison between OWP Pharmaceuticals and the ROW Foundation, helping to coordinate and maximize the efforts of both organizations.
Board MemberBruce has more than thirty years of experience at the C-level in accounting and tax management, including a decade at a Big 4 accounting firm and a decade managing the tax department of a Fortune 100 company. Bruce was also the Sr. Vice President of Finance at a capital management firm that grew to more than $50 billion during his tenure. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has a law degree from Case Western.
